The Department of Nephrology, Tokyo Rosai Hospital
Features
The Division of Nephrology and Metabolism treats renal diseases (nephritis, nephrosis, hereditary renal disease, chronic kidney disease), hypertension, electrolyte disorders, edema, collagen diseases, various complications in dialysis patients, and metabolic diseases such as lipid disorders and hyperuricemia. In many cases, renal diseases have no subjective symptoms. It is important how to diagnose and treat hypertension without symptoms or abnormal urine findings in health checkups. We aim to be a renal and metabolic medicine department that can give back to the community “I am glad I was referred to you,” although we did not quite understand why we were told to go to a large hospital. On the other hand, in patients with subjective symptoms, it is crucial how to prolong the duration of conservative renal failure and introduce renal replacement therapy at the right time. We emphasize cooperation with doctors in the community and strive to respond to patients, including emergency consultations. Nephritis and nephrotic syndrome treatment is a traditional specialty of our department. Minor abnormal urinary findings can lead to diagnosis and treatment and greatly affect the patient’s prognosis. Percutaneous renal biopsies are scheduled two days a week for in-hospital evaluation and directly linked to treatment. In hypertension care, we combine evaluation of various types of secondary hypertension and dietary therapy to achieve high patient satisfaction with minimal medication to achieve treatment goals. In collagen disease care, we treat a variety of diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus, various types of vasculitis, and IgG4-related diseases. Dialysis patients are getting older every year, and various complications are increasing. About 100 cases of percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) for poor vascular access are performed annually. As of April 2022, the clinic is staffed with one medical advisor and three specialists from the Japanese Society of Nephrology, and one medical advisor and three specialists from the Japanese Society for Dialysis Therapy. We aim to be the first choice for patients and doctors in the community when they have problems.High Performance Equipment and Special Equipment
In addition to hemodialysis and filtration equipment, we are equipped with various types of apheresis therapy (plasma exchange, endotoxin adsorption, LDL adsorption, leukocyte adsorption, and immunoadsorption therapy) to respond to needs from various departments including collagen disease, autoimmune disease, intractable nephrosis, sepsis, digestive system disease including hepatobiliary and pancreatic disease, and neurological disease. Furthermore, the Nikkiso Future net web system was introduced in September 2012 to provide safer blood purification therapy (15 beds).Achievements in Medical Treatment
