Notice of Establishment of Outpatient Consultations for Neurosurgery and Treatment

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Akio Morita, Professor Emeritus of Neurosurgery at Nippon Medical School, has been appointed as the Director of this clinic. During his training at Tokyo University and related medical institutions, Dr. Morita spent three years under the supervision of the late Dr. Takanori Fukushima, where he learned the essence of microsurgery. After that, with the encouragement of Dr. Fukushima, he completed 7 years of clinical training at the Mayo Clinic, the world’s top medical institution, and after serving as an assistant professor at the George Washington University(Washington, DC, USA), he became a assistant and associate professor of neurosurgery at the University of Tokyo, then the chief of neurosurgery at NTT East Kanto Hospital, for 6years. He was a professor at the Graduate School of Neurosurgery, Nippon Medical School for 10 years from 2013. He is one of only a few surgeons in Japan who are doubly board-certified in neurosurgery in both Japan and in the U.S. He has performed more than 5,000 surgeries himself, specializing in difficult skull base brain tumors, acoustic tumors, meningiomas, craniopharyngiomas, cerebral aneurysms, microvascular decompression for trigeminal neuralgia and hemifacial spasm, and craniocervical junction lesions, with excellent results. In addition to his own knowledge and surgical skills, Dr. Morita has many acquaintances and friends in the world of neurosurgery in Japan and around the world, and is well aware of the personalities and surgical skills of actual prominent neurosurgeons. We can sincerely recommend which doctor is best suited for your treatment as well as your surgery at our hospital.
