Plastic surgery is a one of surgery that treats abnormalities on and near the body surface. Plastic surgery treatments include birth defects, injuries, burns, birthmarks, mass, scars, body deformities, and cosmetic surgery. Since the establishment of our department, we have strived to ensure that our patients are satisfied with their treatment and improve their quality of life.

Also, our department is an educational facility for plastic surgery at Showa University School of Medicine. Our department actively participates in academic conferences and research groups to incorporate the latest knowledge, and we also present new treatment methods and the results at our hospital.

The plastic surgery/cosmetic surgery outpatient clinic is open from Monday to Friday every week for general and various specialized outpatients. Please refer to the hospital information for reception hours. We always accept emergency cases such as trauma, burns, infections, and gangrene.

Major diseases treated by plastic surgery

A. Congenital anomalies

Our department treats Cleft lip and palate, Ear deformities, Eyelid abnormalities, Limb deformities, and Chest, Abdominal, and Vulval abnormalities. The timing of surgery varies depending on the location and state of the abnormality. It can be performed as early as 3 months after birth. Under the guidance of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Showa University School of Medicine, we provide long-term care to patients, and we also perform plastic surgery for deformities that remain even after adulthood.

B. Injuries and burns

We treat all types of contusions and burns on the body surface, as well as reduction of facial fractures and reattachment of amputated fingers. We strive to ensure that scars from trauma and burns heal as cleanly as possible. For burns, we offer a new treatment that uses a combination of less painful wound covering and topical medications that promote skin regeneration.

C. Scars, Strains, and Body deformities

We provide treatment for scars, keloids, and contractures that are left after trauma, burns, and surgery. We also provide treatment to reconstruct parts of the body lost due to deformities after burns, cancer surgery, or severe trauma.

D. Bruises, Mass, Angioma, Birthmark, Soft tissue tumor

We mainly treat various types of hemangiomas using laser called V-beam. We are also working with our hospital’s dermatology department to treat black, brown, and blue birthmarks, as well as benign and malignant tumors in the skin and soft tissue.

E. Cosmetic surgery

In addition to plastic surgery, we also provide treatments such as eyelid surgery and stain removal. Depending on the patient’s condition, there are some diseases that can be treated under health insurance, such as ptosis and axillary odor, so please feel free to contact us.
